Who Are They?

Riley’s Way is a Detroit based clothing brands that center’s itself around celebrating, embracing, and loving natural hair texture and natural girls!

Identify Needs

Step 1

To begin the design and marketing process, our team met with Riley’s Way owner to establish their needs for the semester.

  1. Redesign website landing page

  2. Design website page for upcoming brand launches

  3. Improve visibility of Riley’s Way merchandise on the website

Issues to target :

  1. Current landing page is too busy and visually overstimulating to users

  2. Landing page does not draw attention to Riley’s Way apparel and products despite the brand being apparel focused

  3. Landing page distracts from the Riley’s Way mission

  1. Make the initial image on the landing page for colorful, and captivating, while still showcasing Riley’s Way apparel

  2. Immediately draw attention “Shop Our Products”

  3. Highlight the Philanthropic Mission, creating an emotional appeal to users

  4. Quick highlight of the blog posts:

    1. While I think that this section could be removed, blog posts seems to be an important part of the Riley’s Way website. My goal was to continue to showcase these posts in a less visually overstimulating mode.

Wireframe 2: Design Rationale

Design a landing page for the Riley’s Way upcoming brand launch: Improving Girl’s Self-esteem Program

Goals:

  1. Utilize Riley’s Way brand guidelines to create this wireframe

  2. DO NOT redesign the Riley’s Way brand when making a new webpage

  1. Keeping the same Riley’s Way colors and typography

  2. Have photos of happy, confident girls wearing Riley’s Way merchandise

  3. Have the waitlist sign-up immediately available

  4. Describe the program in a way that is visually engaging, clear and direct, and does not change the Riley’s Way brand style

Next Steps

So… what now?

Riley’s Way will continue to work with Michigan Advertising and Marketing to further expand their social media and online outreach, as well as to work on marketing campaigns and promotional material.

Riley’s Way will have the option to use my wireframes, and my co-designer’s wireframes, and apply these ideas to their website if they so choose to!

This start-up organization is incredible! If you are in the Detroit area, definitely check them out (and maybe even if you’re from out of state)!!
